Mission and Vision

The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand is the country’s national Holocaust education and remembrance centre.

Our Vision is:

That through testimony, experience and advocacy, the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand inspires and empowers individuals to stand against prejudice, discrimination and apathy.

 

Our Mission is to:

Ensure that the memory of the Holocaust remains in the present, and shapes our future
Work and converse with all of NZ society
Teach and encourage people to take individual responsibility for opposing prejudice in all of its forms
Guard against attempts to make any group a target of mass prejudice and discrimination
Encourage respect for diversity.

 We will achieve our mission through:

Recording, collecting, and sharing of survivor testimonies
Archiving of survivor artefacts
Research, teaching, publishing and advocacy
Fostering national and international partnerships
Promoting human rights education as the cornerstone of a liberal, democratic, and inclusive society.
